2010 – Sand diver, Niger River, Mali

This is the 20th year of my photographic career. People often ask me, how did it all begin? A question to which it is difficult to give a simple answer. By posting an image a day for a year I hope to give an insight into the journey which I have embarked on. It is important to take stock and look back, something that I rarely do, but this project has given me the reason and motivation to do so. The process of collating and captioning these images in Itself has been a very interesting exercise, the work forming itself into a visual diary. Uncovering forgotten work, Reminding me of the ideas behind these images, and my feelings towards them now. This project spans from the early days of my career, with no money even fewer commissions, and opportunities cut out of paper. It is still very much a work in progress, and hopefully not even half way through.
